Meet The Staff
Mariana Velasco
Mariana Velasco was born and raised in Austin, TX. She graduated in 2016 and shortly after became a certified medical assistant in 2018. With over 8 years of experience in the dermatology field, Mariana manages Jerdan Dermatology as our Office Manager.
Mariana’s responsibilities include accounts receivable, patient care and support, scheduling meetings for Dr. Kimberly Jerdan, maintaining relationships with representatives, general administrative support to our office staff, day-to-day operations, insurance, prior authorizations, appeals, emails, correspondence and most importantly keeping an organized and safe environment for our staff and patients.
Mariana, her husband, three Dobermans, and German Shepherd enjoy spending time outdoors and currently reside in Guthrie, OK. Some of her hobbies include fishing, playing volleyball, reading, shopping, and cooking.
Sydney Barb, RN
Meet Sydney, a passionate and skilled aesthetic nurse with roots in Texas and a heart set in Oklahoma City. A distinguished graduate of The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Sydney obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, earning honors and distinction.
Beginning in the pediatric cardiac ICU, Sydney knows the importance of precision and a gentle touch - even in the most stressful situations. This foundation proved invaluable when she transitioned to dermatology, joining the esteemed Jerdan Dermatology team. Under the mentorship of Dr. Jerdan, Sydney has undergone rigorous training in a variety of treatments, mastering injectables, neurotoxins, skin care and lasers - all while emphasizing a natural aesthetic approach.
Today, Sydney specializes in light laser procedure and injectables, blending scientific expertise with an artist’s touch to bring out your best self. Her aim? To make every treatment not just a procedure, but a personalized experience for your cosmetic goals.
When she’s not at the clinic, Sydney is enjoying the outdoors with her fiance, Matthew, and their doodle, Millie. Her favorite activities include weekend trips to Lake Texoma, cheering on the Oklahoma Sooners and visiting family in her hometown of Fort Worth, TX.

Tonya Johnson, Radiation Therapist
Tonya has been treating cancer with radiation for the past 15 years. In 2022, she decided to focus her extensive training and years of experience to mainly treat non-melanoma skin cancer within the dermatology setting. She is passionate about educating her patients in understanding their radiation treatments in a comforting manner. You can rest assured that you are in safe hands as she tailors your treatment plan to your specific skin cancer to achieve remarkable results.
She received her bachelor's degree in Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 2009. She has her certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and is registered in the field of Radiation Therapy. She is also a member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists. These qualifications further support her ability to provide high-quality care to her patients.
In her free time Tonya enjoys spending time with her husband and son while watching her two wonderful stepchildren grow into the amazing adults they have become. She likes spending time at the ballfield watching her little man play sports and grow athletically. She also has a passion for dachshunds; she currently has two with the possibility of getting a third. In her downtime, she likes to paint with acrylics and draw with colored pencils.
Nohemi Velasco
Nohemi Velasco was born and raised in Austin, Texas and is now in Oklahoma City, where she has been a part of our team since June 2022. She has always enjoyed the medical field, and wants to pursue a career in Sonography. In Nohemi’s spare time you will catch her enjoying her time with family, friends, and walks with her Doberman, Rambo.
Karla Velasco
Karla Velasco was born and raised in Yukon, Oklahoma, and has been a part of our team since June 2022. Since joining the team as a Medical Assistant she has found a new passion in the medical industry, driving her to further her education at Oklahoma City Community College in nursing. In Karla’s spare time you will catch her running all around town doing all things dog mom to her two golden retrievers, Frida and Rufus.
Amanda Esparaza
Amanda Esparza was born in Florida and has lived in Florida, Mexico, and Colorado. She made Oklahoma City her home in 2023 and promptly joined the Jerdan Dermatology team, having worked in the medical field prior.
Amanda has expressed how since she was young she has always wanted to become a doctor. While residing in Florida she started her academic journey with her goal to become a physician. She has since obtained her Associate’s degree in Biology and is currently working on obtaining her Bachelor’s in Biology. As a hobby, Amanda enjoys her license in beautifying brows: microblading, laminating, and tinting. Since joining our office she has strived to make everyone feel welcome from the moment they walk in our office door, from patients to the mailman to her co-workers/staff.
When Amanda is not in clinic she enjoys sharing her time with her husband Alfredo, family and her two dogs Atlas and Flaco. She loves to cook while listening to her favorite music and also reads, watches movies and documentaries in her spare time. Amanda has a passion for traveling and likes to bring her husband and dogs along with her. She hopes to one day own a business with her husband and grow their small family.
Cher, Clinic Mascot
Cher is Dr. Jerdan's first child and her companion in clinic. She often keeps to herself in her dog bed, although she has never turned down a loving pat on the head or helped a patient through a tough procedure. If you have an aversion to pets, we ask that you schedule your appointment on Wednesdays when Cher is at doggy daycare, otherwise she is quick to love on you!
